This was our 5th cruise with Princess, first aboard the Regal Princess. (Though we did take the identical cruise last year on her sister ship, the Royal)
This was the first cruise that we enjoyed "Platinum" status with Princess...the most notable benefit was being whisked to the front of what was a very long embarkation line, and allowed flexibility to disembark at the last possible moment (saving us from hours at the airport, since our flight home was late afternoon.)
As with the Royal, the ship is beautiful. The common areas, particularly the piazza, are filled with glitz and glamour that really make you feel you are onboard a special vessel. The ports of call were a bit boring to us, as we have been to all of them at least three times, but the timing and price were right, so we welcomed the opportunity to explore different things then we had previously.
The cabins on this ship are small and feel a bit spartan. A bit more "bling" would be great, but they were comfortable, immaculate, and suited our needs just fine.
In St. Maarten, again because we have previously been there many times, we chose to disembark and take a leisurely stroll around the island and do some shopping. We likely would have chosen to stay aboard here too, because the shopping is mostly women's jewelry, which we were not in the market for.
We did not leave the ship at Princess Cays, having been to the island many times. We elected to enjoy a day by the ships pool instead. I can say we have always enjoyed this island on past cruises though.
