Would have rated the cruise at least a 4, but, agree with me or not, I hate smoking! I live in IL and public areas are now smoke free, so maybe I've even become more sensitive. The main way through the bars/activities (including the 15-17 teen club) on the ship was through the casino, where they allowed smoking. There are ways around the casino on different floors to avoid the heaviest parts, but no way to avoid it completely. The casino is on level 5 and there were times I could smell cigarette smoke by the 7th floor elevators. There were some fun trivia and bands on the casino stage we missed out on due to the heavy smoking. Wish they would have limited the smoking to the more enclosed bars - plenty of options. Unfortunately, smoking is also allowed in main dance bar, too. (Smoking is also allowed on certain sides off the ship by the pool).
Food was fair, but we knew that going in from other reviews. Could always find something decent to eat on the menu though. Seemed typical of other types of "mass cooking" (weddings, etc.) No fun midnight buffets, just pizza and self-serve ice cream. Had a "Fiesta" party by pool one night with some chips/salsa snacks (no warning on the Habenero sauce - ouch!).
Nightly comics were fun and some other good shows for days at sea. Had to get creative and find chairs to drag into the sun for our day at sea, pool side pretty packed.
Nice lay out - set up with a king and bunk twins. A little challenging for my 5'7" daughter to climb down from bunk, but 1/day, she was fine (complaining teen :))
Port close to some fun shopping. We slept in a little, so not much time here. Went to the butterfly place. Very nice, worth seeing once (or more if you're a big butterfly fan). Friends were vacationing down at the same time and drove us to a spot on the beach and back to the port. Very rocky bottom, need water shoes.
Came in night before cruise and drove to South beach (not the crazy part). Just went to port in a.m. to leave, so no real review for the port itself, but field is required.
