My wife and 2 teenage kids shared a mini-suite. Size was decent, about the size of a small hotel room. the balcony was great, having never had one before. Our steward (Jaime) was excellent and seemed to work very hard the entire cruise. The kids really bonded with him and loved the towel animals he made everyday. Overall the room was nice but some of the furniture was a little worn, not a big deal for me. Leaving from New Orleans was great, loved travelling down the Mississippi as it turned into the gulf. The food was very good, no complaints, although it seemed to take about 2 hours for every meal. The entertainment and shows were also pretty amazing. We loved the dance shows, acrobatics and the magician. All were great. the lounge singers were pretty good, not great.
Ports of call were nice except Belize, the Detroit of the Caribbean (no offense to Detroit, it's not as bad as Belize). Basically a giant slum with minimal infrastructure. The cave tubing was nice but quite a hassle to get there. disembarking the ship in Belize was another hassle as you had to take a tender to shore (45 min). Chacchoben ruins were great with a wonderful guide (Jesus Rivero). Roatan was beautiful. The NCL tour from Cozumel to the Tulum ruins was not great. The tour guide was basically a salesperson for the locals and was not particularly knowledgeable. Would skip Tulum and go diving in Cozumel next time.
I was a irked to have a mandatory service charge added to my bill. they couldn't tell me where the $350 was going. This made it hard to figure a tip for our steward. I would like to see a breakdown of who is getting what, but guest services couldn't do it.
Good size. furniture a bit worn but ok.
