This was a last minute cruise with a cruise line I'd never heard of so my expectations were not too high.We had a drinks package and 200 dollars credit included in the deal, which was very reasonable.Three of us shared a cabin, which also kept the cost lower.

In the last 8 months we had cruised with Cunard on the Queen Elizabeth, and on The Celebrity Milennium, and both were awful. When we boarded this ship it looked a little dated and there wasn't tons of space in our cabin, but after the first day we were wowed. The evening shows were the best I've ever seen at sea, there was entertainment all around the ship of a really high standard. There were even matinee shows on sea days. The restaurants were good, but lacked a little variety sometimes. I was a bit disappointed that 6 of the restaurants carried a cover charge too, but we found the "free "restaurants were adequate, and the quality of food was always good. The Blue Lagoon also had 24 hour meals and drinks.

The overall atmosphere on board was warm and friendly and it was clear that guests were important( rather than an inconvenience as on some ships).Almost every port had a free shuttle bus to the city/resort and no one ever pushed excursions. In fact you had to go to the excursion desk to find out about shore excursions and they were never pushy- just helpful. The atmosphere was relaxed and there was no requirement to dress up, though many of us did.We will definitely start by looking at NCL first when we next book a cruise later this summer.

Cabin Review

Cabin OB

The cabin wasn't fancy and a little dated, but it had everything we needed, including TV, dressing table and a small sofa. There was plenty of storeage and although it wasn't very large it was still ok even with a third person.Deck 5 was very quiet, and it was convenient for everything as our cabin was mid ships.it was clean and well cared for.

Port Reviews

Madeira (Funchal)

We got the free shuttle bus and just had a wander and a coffee this time as we have done many of the excursions on previous trips to Madiera.Madiera is always clean and friendly and I lve it here.

Barcelona

All went smoothly with arrival and leaving the port, we didn't visit Barcelona as we've been before and I have never felt safe there. It was very cold too upon arrival so we just wanted to get on with the cruise and head further south.

Tenerife

As we've been to Tenerife many times we didn't go an organised excursion but just got the shuttle to the port entrance and had a look around the shops. Tenerife is always lovely so there's no need to soend hours on a bus unless there's something you particularly want to see.

Lanzarote

Again we walked off the ship and made our own way to the Manrique museum, which is very interesting, even though we've been before. The landscape is fantastic and worth taking a drive around the island if nothing else.

Malaga

We didn't go ashore at this port as it was hot and we needed a day to relax, but other guests told us that it was a very interesting and historic port.
