This was our 3rd carnival cruise and second time out of miami. two families (early 40's) including 15, 13 and 7 year old.

We are canadian and went out of buffalo. cheaper flights than toronto. it's was cheaper to fly into fort lauderdale than miami and booked candlewood suites. we concentrated on this area because last cruise we stayed at the holiday inn and knew across the street was a liquor and grocery store to stock up on our wine and pop/water. they provided a shuttle from the airport. the next day we were picked up by sas transportation to shuttle us to the port of miami. fort lauderdale hotels don't shuttle to the miami port so you have to arrange your own. a google search or message boards will provide you with many options.

We purchased the faster to fun which was great because as soon as we boarded we could drop off our carry-on's in our room and head to eat without having to watch out or manage our stuff. especially cases of water!

Ocean View

Cabin 6A

Our room 1452 - last room at the very end of the hall. We booked where Carnival gets to pick our room. First and last time I ever do that! BUT it did save us $700 all together! At the time...well worth it! Bonus - no hallroom noise but the ropes that tether to the port...right beside us. Extremely noisy! Hum of whatever is just beyond there was actually nice as white noise. It was always a journey to get anywhere on the other side of the ship! Room is ocean view and a nice size!

Port Reviews

Miami

This was our second cruise out of Miami Port. Easy drop off area for luggage and the terminal is easy to navigate. Miami is BEAUTIFUL so pulling out of port...so much to see and look at.

St. Thomas

We hopped on the bus to Charlotte Amalie along with many other guests. Confusion of where to stand and who was first was extremely disorganized. They should have roped off areas. Stand in this line if you are heading to town and stand in this line if you are going to a beach. That way is fair but really...this is a free for all!

We were dropped off at a market and walked down the street to Magic Ice. Smaller than we thought but "cool" none the less. My husband and I each got a shot that was included in the drink. Funny we can from wintery Canada to go to an ice bar! BUT we thought it was worth the experience! Lots of bus/taxis back to the pier area! They are everywhere.

San Juan

We walked from the pier to San Cristobal Castle and explored. It rained a bit but didn't damper our moods. It was hot so a sprinkle was quite nice. We stood and waited for the trolley. I read online that often it's full or it takes forever but we decided to take the chance. About 5 minutes later we were on our way to El Morro. Admission tickets include both. We could have walked it but it was nice to sit and relax on the trolley for a bit. We explored for about an hour! Old San Juan was great to explore as well. Lots of neat shops to check out. Try to find the Butterfly Store. Its on a side street and well worth going in to see some amazing art work!

Grand Turk

Our ship was first in so we had no problem getting three chairs. We went to the right were it was quiet. The main beach and Marguaritaville is to the left. Lots of trees for shade and nice snorkelling in this area. We were pleasantly surprised to see as many fish as we did for a roped off area. We shopped a bit and checked out the pool area.
