Sail Date: Mar 2015

We purchased this cruise because it was new to us. We've sailed Royal Caribbean, Holland America and a couple of times on Carnival. We enjoy cruising, the ship life and the laid back feeling cruising provides. Always, on all the cruise lines that we've partaken of, there is a selection of food choices. Not on MSC Divina. We have food allergies so we find the buffet the better choice for us. The dining room has too few choices for someone who has unusual allergies such as vinegar and tomatoes. Most pastas have some sort of tomato based sauce so this rules this station out. The pizza station is out for the same reason. The carving station only offered medium rare and rare beef choices, turkey once, pork once or twice, ham and chicken legs. We eat beef that is well done this was not a possibility either. We could not find basic vegetables, such as mashed potatoes, other than in the kids' section. The station that really annoyed us was the burger station. EVERYDAY we were forced to eat burgers, hot dogs and fries for both lunch and dinner. The evening before last we picked 3 burgers for dinner and ALL 3 were raw inside. The only positive was the breakfast buffet. There was enough choices to have something different each day. My allergy is to peanuts. Mostly I can avoid these foods. However, they served desserts that had nuts in and sprinkled upon them and nothing was marked. I saw a dessert with pistachio nuts crumbled on top with no warning to those with nut allergies. As dining is a part of the cruising life the choices offered by this cruise was found to be lacking in the highest degree. And, unfortunately in some cases, potential very dangerous if not fatal as in the raw hamburger and nuts. We never tried the Eataly restaurant, as I feel, that we paid quite enough for the cruise, why should we have to pay more to get good food. It should be all encompassed within the cruise fare. On a different note the ship was beautiful, the cabin roomy and well taken care of. The shops were on par with other cruise lines. The customer service was exceptional, however, this was insufficient for us to EVER sail MSC again.

Port Reviews

Miami

Embarkation was the quickest of all our cruises. It was fat, efficient and quite well organized. We did get there early so maybe this was a factor, but we've been early to other cruises and the wait was atrocious.

San Juan

No excursion was taken therefore no review needed. Been in Puerto Rico many times done all the excursions that we wanted. The city of San Juan is beautiful... reminds me of New Orleans.

Grand Turk

No excursion taken therefore no review needed. Been there before just enjoyed the port. Why the need for 150 typed characters! This is annoying! This willlimit any reviews in the future
