We were very excited to be aboard the new Regal Princess. This was my 28th cruise and my Partner's 29th and we are both (especially me) quite fussy. The ship was absolutely beautiful, but there were some features and areas that were lacking and we hope Princess will correct these issues.
Embarkation was fast and easy. The Princess Representatives were courteous and efficient and we were onboard within 20 minutes. The ship has been in service in the Caribbean for 6 months. The original and experienced start –up staff (brought in from other ships) were in the process of completing their contracts and new staff members were being brought onboard, leading to some lapses in services, as I will discuss later.
We went to our balcony cabin on the Aloha deck and we met our new steward Joey. He was wonderful throughout the entire 7 day cruise and took care of all of our requests.
Cabin was very nice and adequate. Balcony was the size of a Romeo and Juliet Balcony. You could barely fit two chairs out there.
The shopping is great. The merchants are the best - very honest and reputable. We love to shop for liquor, jewelry, colognes, perfumes, etc... They have the best prices in the Caribbean - on the Dutch side. The French side of the island uses Euros which can make it much more expensive, depending on your currency.
We did not take an excursion. It is just a really nice beach day. The food is very good. Don't miss out on the ribs or the chocolate chip cookies. The service on the island was excellent.
