After spending 30 days aboard the Pearl last year, it was like coming home to friends to board her agin. This was the first cruise after the charter season so we were slightly delayed boarding as there were many crew changes and even changes to the pool deck to remove a stage that had to be accomplished before we were able to board. We passed the time in the waiting area visiting with new Cruise Critic rollcall friends. Those beads do make it easy to spot each other! This was our first cruise with a beverage package and our first cruise as platinum lattitudes members. Wow! Wonderful perks! We had five ports and enjoyed excursions at all five: In St Kitts we did a private excursion with Thenford Gray arranged by someone on our rollcall! Excellent knowledge of history, geography and people of the Caribbean. We would recommend him without reservation. In Martinique we took a ship's excursion, St Pierre, a Historical Capital. The tour of the area devastated by the volcano was interesting but was a long bus ride. The other stops were also interesting, a church and a rum distillery. We are still enjoying the rum! We enjoyed a spacious catamaran adventure off the coast of Dominica while watching giant sperm whales during the ship's Whale and Dolphin Adventure. No dolphins were sighted but we did see several whales. Antigua Highlights and lobster lunch was much enjoyed as was the St John's Island Tour from St Thomas, both ship tours. Our cabin, an oceanview with small porthole on deck 5 was more than adequate with the same large shower with sliding glass door that we enjoyed in a balcony cabin last year. The entertainment was also quite good, particularly the production company shows,Pure Variety and Legends in Concert. The crew and officers were very available and approachable and we hope to sail this ship again soon.
