My husband and I are both retired and are in our mid 60's so a party cruise was not what we were looking for when we chose this itinerary as well as cruise line. This was our 7th cruise and would be our 5th time with RCI. Although we are not well seasoned cruisers, we knew we would be pleased with RCI. We were cruising with my husband's brother and his girlfriend. They had sailed with RCI as well.
The four of us stayed at the Comfort Inn in Cocoa Beach. We chose this hotel because they offered a cruise package. For a small fee we could leave our car at the hotel for the duration of the cruise and they would provided transportation to and from the port. The hotel is not new but comfortable and the staff was very pleasant and accommodating.
Freedom of the Seas is an absolutely beautiful ship. It took us a couple of days to find our way around. It is a huge ship. The touch screen directory by all elevators sure helped. The day of disembarkation we were to wait in a lounge until our color was called. To show you how large this ship is, we had never seen this lounge in our 7 days of cruising. It was a beautiful new area that was put in during dry dock!
Clean. Showing some wear. I am use to a memory foam mattress so the bed was not as comfortable as mine. Then again, is any bed as comfortable as your own??
I laughed when I saw the shower. I called it a tube. It is smaller than the shower in our RV and it is small. I don't know how some of the people we saw on the ship could even get in it.
