This was our second trip on the Summit doing the identical itinerary. I was traveling with my husband, we are both in our mid 50's but very active. We wondered if we would enjoy it as much as we were doing the same trip on the same ship. Good news is that we did.
We stayed pre-cruise one night at the Radisson which was cheap and fine for one night, especially as we were landing late. We boarded the ship before noon and there were no lines at all. Cabins were ready at 1 pm exactly.
This time we tried our first ever ocean view (3112 - one of the newer ones with the oversize window), the location was fabulous as it was just off the guest service area and very close to the Martini Bar on deck 4. The cabin was fine but we decided we will not choose and ocean view again. We have had inside cabins and been happy and lots of balconies too, somehow seeing the ocean but not having a balcony didn't work for us.
This cabin is one of the newer ones on deck three that was added. It has a larger window than most Oceanview staterooms and it is in a very quiet hallway. We never heard anyone outside our cabin. There is a public bathroom on the other side of the cabin but again, there was no noise from it. In fact, the only time we ever heard noise was around 5 am on the last morning as they were moving all the check in and check out stuff onto the promenade deck.
Despite the cabin being clean and comfortable we have decided that the oceanview is not for us. We have been happier with insides than looking out the window and not having a balcony. I know, it makes no sense but I'd prefer and inside than an oceanview. Of course, for our next cruise we have again book a balcony.
