Sydney to Noumea and Suva and Lautoka...... at least that was the plan! Stayed overnight at the 'Napoleon on Kent' in Sydney. Give this Hotel a pass as the block-out drapes and sheer curtains are not able to meet to block out the light. The mini-frig was totally frozen over .. a health and safety issue? Also a long walk to get a meal.

Boarding on the 5th March was as usual, just need plenty of patience. I was very pleased with my Promenade Cabin #6579 on Deck 6. My cabin was directly above the English pub "The Pig and Whistle' and all I heard was a loud continuous bass sound which continued until very late every night of the 11 night cruise. My advice is check out the deck plans and stay away from the pub-end of the Promenade. However, my cabin was great for 'people watching' as the Prom is active from morning until late at night. As other reviewers have mentioned you have to keep your sheer drapes closed as the opposite cabins can be looked into. If your cabin lights are on, you need to close the heavy drapes for privacy.

The wait staff at the buffet 'Windjammer' are excellent, always asking you if you need anything. Top points to whoever is responsible for this. The biggest disappointment of the whole cruise was the Captain having to cancel our ports in Fiji because of the possibility of a cyclone. I had never been to Fiji and was so looking forward to it. Instead we spent two nights in Hobart, Tasmania. I have been to Hobart about five times at least so that was a further disappointment - at least for me. At least in Noumea, I had a great day out with 'Fernando's Tours'. I met up with Brad who had booked the tour and we both agreed it was fantastic.

Promenade Stateroom

Cabin PR

Very good layout. A two seater couch plus a long window seat overlooking the Promenade. En-suite small but well designed. I loved the shower with its curved shower screen - no water on the floor, no clinging shower curtain. Great!

Port Reviews

Noumea

Did not take any Cruise Ship Excursions only a private one in Noumea which was fantastic. Thankful at least I enjoyed ONE port out of the TWO we visited.

Lautoka

We did not get to Lautoka due to weather problems. Went on this cruise just for the Fiji experience too. Disappointed is the least I can say. Nothing else to add.

Suva

We did not go to Suva, Fiji due to the weather - a second very BIG disappointment!

I understand the reasons but that doesn't help a lot when your 74 and may not be able to go there again.
