We took our trip March 5th to Haiti & Jamaica. When we got through customs we had to check in and the young man that checked us in took about an hour to do so. He didn't know what he was doing. He kept having to find help from someone and messed up one of our peoples names in the system and it caused a lot of trouble for us on the boat because the name on the card didn't match the name that showed up when the card was swiped (name was right on the card but showed middle name as first name when swiped).

When we got onto the boat it was absolutely beautiful. However, our room and another person that came with us rooms were incorrect. We called guest services and went to guest services and both times they told us that they would try to find us a different room. About 3 hours later they gave us both a call back saying nothing but sorry. Didn't offer us anything for our troubles. Now though we weren't looking for a discount we should expected more from them than just a sorry. We've traveled before on carnival and when they mess up they offer free internet, they check on you in your room multiple times, they offer discounts, they offer credit, etc. So after dealing with that hassle we accepted it and moved from it.

In my own opinion, I felt as if the buffets food was cold and unfavorable. I preferred room service everyday for the 5 days we were on the boat. Their room service menu had really good options from steak sandwiches to cookies to fried chicken. The bar staff in the Catacombs club was pretty rude. I understood that they were slammed with college students but they were very snappy and unfavorable. The DJ that was hired of this cruise was absolutely amazing! Now, when we arrived to Haiti it was pretty decent. You can't swim on the beach there unless you were a gold cardholder. They fed us on the island so that was a plus. But the drinks (nonalcoholic) were very watery. Our next stop was Jamaica, I loved the fact that we were able to see what real Jamaican life was instead of it being staged for us. The only thing I didn't like about Jamaica was that the people there were always trying to get you to buy something and they would not leave you alone. You have to know how to walk away from them because they do not take no as an answer. After walking around for our time allowed we returned to the boat. If you're traveling with young adults who appear older than they really are be careful. We encountered a few times where and employee would be telling obvious teens that it doesn't matter (buying drinks and/or cigarettes) because they're in international waters. The casino was fair. The card table workers weren't very happy at all. They all kept a neutral face the entire time. Never smiled, grinned, laugh, or anything. We also had met multiple people on the cruise who had their share of bad experiences and also preferred Carnival. Though this trip wasn't completely bad. I don't think I would return even if the trip was heavily discounted.
