This was our 6th Princess cruise and second time on the Caribbean Princess.Embarkation was the easiest this time as ever before. We arrived later than usual so no long lines. We take advantage of the transfers so no problem there either. We were met by a Princess guide who led us directly to the motor coach. We always try to get a mini suite because we love the full size bath and the balcony. The ship has undergone some work and I was well pleased. I would have liked better mattresses on the queen bed and I think the Corporate owners should really consider upgrading the bedding. Our bed had a bump in the middle more pronounced than usual and my husband kept rolling sideways! It was clean and our steward was wonderful. He was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed.
The food was good, we always eat in the dining room and our servers were wonderful. They remember exactly what your preferences in drinks are after the 1st night and you do not have to keep reminding them. The food as I said was good, nothing exceptional, good presentation and hot. Bar service was good and we always make the International Cafe our go to destination. We love the service, the pastries and coffees. We also enjoy the entertainment. It is a wonderful way to end the day or start the day. I can't say enough good things about the servers at the International Cafe. My only concern this trip was the Barista at the coffee bar was not as experienced with the coffee, latte and specialty drinks as he should have been.I heard several people complain about their coffees. I didn't have a problem because I drink expresso's, red eyes and he knew how to make those.Excursions were a combination of what was offered by Princess and those we booked privately. My husband did the scuba excursion and was very satisfied with the experience. Disembarkation was a breeze as we did the e-z check and had no problems with luggage. The cruise was all we expected and very enjoyable.
I would love for Princess to upgrade their bedding, duvets, sheets, etc. The mattresses need to be upgraded and somehow when the twin beds are combined to make a queen the middle should not be hard and uncomfortable. I would also think that in the mini suites the mini bar should be stocked with more than just water and sodas. I would think when you pay for this category of stateroom it would be good business to provide your customers the opportunity to have a cocktail in their room whenever they want.
We just flew into this port to embark onto the ship. The airport was fine. We had no problem getting our luggage and finding the Princess guide. We boarded the bus to the ship.
We did not port due to bad weather conditions. The Captain made the decision not to dock due to high swells and unstable conditions with the tender boats.
Not a lot to do in port. We have been in this port several times. We ate lunch which was very enjoyable and did some shopping. Walked through the straw market.
