This was my second, and hubby's first, cruise on Navigator of the Seas. I was a little anxious how he'd like it since we are more used to Holland America (which cruises out of our city) but he thought it was a great ship. I know he appreciated the excellent signage. We met up with some friends who live in the SE U.S. and had a wonderful time with them.
We chose to drive from CA to Galveston, sightseeing and visiting along the way. We spent 2 nights in Galveston prior to the cruise so we had everything pretty well plotted out. We found our EZ Cruise lot so drove right to it Sunday morning. Great folks there - very helpful with we older people getting luggage arranged and such.
Embarcation day was great, decent weather and we were quickly onboard. About 1:00 we went to our cabin and met Luis, our cabin steward. Friendly and fully of helpful information for us which we appreciated. Our cabin was always cared for and tidy (we missed seeing more towel animals) We met our friends for dinner ("My Time") and enjoyed the staff so promptly reserved that table for the remainder of the cruise. Rodrigo & Janice were great.
Lovely cabin, located in our preferred ship's area. Shower was a bit tight (smaller than the one in our RV). We had a bum fridge which was quickly replaced. Luis was great in all aspects of his care of us and our belongings. My one complaint is that the bed was a bit too hard for our liking. Someone elsewhere suggested getting a foam insert and we'll remember that for the next time.
Stayed 2 nights ahead of the cruise at Holiday Inn Seawall and had a view of the Gulf waters. Saturday we did our own drive around the Island tour in the rain
We browsed the few shops, chatted with fellow passengers, bought some souveniers and a hat for me, then headed back to the ship. Friendly and interesting people.
Typical Mexican tourist city. We'd been there before and chose to get off, poke around and see what was going on dockside. Interesting items in the shops so we bought a couple magnets for our fridge.
