Cruise Critic Brilliance of the Seas-25th Nov 2008-12 nights - Barcelona, France, Italy, Greece, Turkey. Cost £1049, Cruise, Fuel surcharge, Gratuities (for two of us) Fantastic price for twelve nights on a five star ship -but read on.
We travelled independently, arriving at the Barcelona Terminal at 2 pm. Having booked in on line, we were through and onto the ship almost immediately, and found this very efficient. I have thought about this critique quite a lot and have decided to use section headings for easy reading.
The Ship. Brilliance is only five years old, a five star ship and looks it. Every fitting is top quality, beautiful leather settees, polished wood, gleaming chrome, not only expensive looking, but beautifully designed. .Even the brackets holding the window rail in the Starquest lounge are a designer's dream for shape. The Centrum rises 10 decks in the center of the ship and it is a pleasure to look up at the glass lifts, or look down from upper decks. The Solarium (swimming pool, Jacuzzi, steamer chairs, bar, cafe) is somewhat over the top, with huge elephant faces overlooking the pool.
Deck Four, Centre forward-doesn't roll too much during bad storm 8metre waves, 115mph winds
