I finally convinced him to take a Christmas Market riverboat trip up the Danube in last December, and this year, he agreed to spend Thanksgiving on a cruise ship. I did loads of homework on the lines and ships, and concluded this might be the best match for us. Nothing's perfect, but this came fairly close.

EMBARKATION: We live in Florida, so we opted to drive 4.5 hours that morning. We arrived earlier than we thought, and believed we could not embark until after 1PM, and wanted to avoid the rush, so we stopped at Total Wine to get some provisions. We boarded about 2, and were literally whisked aboard, with a friendly greeting from all we met. Nice beginning.

We found our cabin (inside), and it was set up as twins. Eventually, our steward appeared, and we requested the change. We also asked the refrigerator to be emptied. Eventually, all these came to be. To say our steward was discrete was an overstatement at times. We had directions to call his pager if needed. We found leaving notes didn't work (the bedside light was out two days), but then mid cruise, things snapped together, and things went well from there on.

Cabin Review

quiet location, plenty of hangers, lots of mirrors so you don't get claustrophobic, sticky drawers, need more drawers. Small bathroom. So what?
