This was our fourth cruise and second with Princess. The Crown Princess carries more passengers than the Diamond Princess that we sailed on previously. More passengers make for smaller common areas and decks. The deck under the lifeboats is a favorite of ours for sitting outside, but the deck on the Crown Princess has very few chairs, none of which are lounge chairs. There seemed to be plenty of loungers on the pool decks, but my wife is quite sensitive to sun so that was not a good option for us.

I like to exercise during my vacations. Walking on the lifeboat deck is possible although there are many places where walking two abreast is not easily accomplished. It is necessary to climb a flight of stairs near the bow to make a complete circuit. Running on the lifeboat deck is difficult but not forbidden by signage. There is a track assigned for runners on the topmost deck, but it is small (16 laps per mile). I ran it twice, one mile each. Sprinting is out of the question, but a nice jog is possible.

Excursions ran well with one exception. We were one of four ships at St. Maarten, so the afternoon tour we booked was late getting started due to traffic in town. All guides spoke English well. The food was comparable to the other Princess boat we sailed on two years ago. The buffet lines moved quickly and most items were sufficiently hot to enjoy. The silverware is provided on the table and can lead to delays when service is stretched thinly. Drink choice is minimal water, iced tea and coffee. The number of tables is often insufficient for the number of diners. We had to walk quite a ways at times to find a table. There are few tables for two causing tables for four or more to be under utilized.

Cabin Review

Shower made a phone booth look big. Inside cabin near stern was a bit noisy during docking.
