I would like to start my review by making you aware that I actually cruised on the Oosterdam in December 2003, not 2005, I wasn't given the option of going back that far. Previous to this cruise I was only on one other which was a Carnival cruise. Although I enjoyed the carnival cruise, I didn't know cruising could get as good as the HAL Oosterdam made it!
Before I start my review I would like to correct a very common misconception that Holland America is for seniors. This is simply not true! It may be for their older ships (which I have not sailed on) but any age group will enjoy cruising on their Vista Class ships! You will not be bored for a single moment!
Embarkation was a little on the long side but went smoothly and easy. Embarkation procedures have improved since as I have experienced on the Noordam in 2007. It made it all worth while when we boarded the ship and the crew not only were eager to assist you to your room, they wanted to know your name and a little about you. This will shock you, the rest of the trip, they remembered it! They remembered your preferences, where you were from, what entertained you, simply remarkable!
