Traveled with children

My husband and I with our 4 kids travelled on the Superstar Virgo with 2 other families with 2 children each. Our kids are aged 08,09,18 and 19 and the other 4 kids were all teenagers and from the beginning they all had a ball. We embarked in Singapore after taking a taxi from the hotel to the port which we organized at the airport on landing. A mini van collected all of us and it the price was reasonable. we stayed at the Holiday Inn just off Orchard Street which was well priced and very central. Great location.

The cruise departed on sunday from singapore then stopped at penang, port klang in malaysia near KL, back to singapore, then on to phuket and back to singapore on friday. This ship was great as it had Indian and halaal food so for once food was not a problem for us. The variety was great and it catered for vegetarians as well. The ship was well maintained, weather was lovely in january but a few gripes were that the off shore excursions were very expensive when booked on board and on landing in Phuket discovered that the day trips could be booked at the landing jetty for almost half the price.Banana beach for snorkeling and a day trip is a MUST.

Penang , on landing negotiate a full day price with one of the taxi drivers we paid approx 900 baht( for all 6 of us) and we saw much more than other people had who had booked through the desk on the ship. It also means you can skip the sights that you not interested in and the local taxis driver took us to some great shops where we bought t shirts and pyjamas/nighties and shoes of fairly good quality at approx $3 and $4 (US)each.
