Traveled with children

This was our second time on the Carnival Glory in 1 1/2 years. We had our kids 16/3 in the room with us so we chose a outside window room since they are the largest. Room was great. PLENTY of room. Our state room steward Levi, was totally outstanding and an absolute pleasure to just plain talk to. just a great all around guy. Butch was the cruise director and did a great job, lots of energy, and a very funny guy. Just full of life and a breath of fresh air. There were 18 in our group from 3 to 67 with 1/2 being newbie cruisers. All liked Butch very much and thought he did a super job. He even took time out of his busy schedule to have a sit down chat with our group after one of the functions. Ports: we did not book our excursions through Carnival, we have in past and they were just as the brochure says they are. Cozumel- well it was Cozumel and as always was great. Wife and another couple had their horse drawn Taxi tour...The horse died on them 3 miles from port.. LMAO. LOL, ROFL. We had the best time teasing them about it on the cruise. My 16 y/o son and I went diving. Was great. Belize- was at flood stage, weather was damp. But we love Belize, lots to do there. Roatan Island, Honduras- new port for us and if you have a chance to go there before it gets like Cozumel... GO... Do it. We loved it. Fins-n-Flippers was the beach break/ snorkeling place we went to. Go to their web site. The place was fabulous. Even with beginner snorkelers in our group, the places snorkeling guide had them at ease and enjoying themselves. $20 pp and it was just plain wonderful. Wife and I will be back here again. Freeport, Bahamas (GBI)- Nice. Don't judge the island by how the port looks. We had a nice time and I like Grand Bahama Island (GBI) better than I do Nassau. Very few teens and tweens which ALWAYS makes for a much nicer cruise. Our 16 y/o and another 15 y/o in the group were very UNimpressed with the teens events and club O2. Food: Lido buffets were good as you would expect. Plenty to choose from. One of the bad comments will have to be that Carnival has taken fruit punch off the menu. So if you do not drink tea or lemonade (which by the way is great stuff) from lunch on then you are stuck with water. Our 3 year old liked the lemonade and tea but others did not and getting a 3 year old to drink water is frustrating. The other bad comment is the food in the main dining rooms was very good, BUT the selection did not seem to be there as in past Carnival cruises. The food was good but, I guess the quality of the food was down a bit. Now I understand that Carnival is trying to find ways to cut costs but keep the value and keep the price down so the average family can afford to go. So having said that, I am realistic enough to understand why the New York Strip steak is not on the menu every night and the Flat Iron Steak is. The flat iron steak was good and I enjoyed it but, it is a lesser cut of meat. So I understand why these steps have been taken. I just enjoy eating stuff on the cruise I can't or don't get to eat at home. I did get 4 lobster tails 1 night. I enjoy the fish and chips bar on top of lido deck and the fresh deli sandwiches....ie the grilled Ruben with homemade kraut. Great pizza. great sushi bar on deck 5. Embarking: At port Canaveral, this was the easiest yet. Debarking: 1. don't over pack. 2. carry your own luggage off (self assist)We were off the ship and loaded in the car 45 minutes from them saying you can debark. Customs: get a passport, we were through customs in 35 sec. I timed them. It takes much longer with birth cert and driver's license. Value: my family of 4, son 16, daughter 3, wife and I 40's talked about going to Disney for a week. It was going to be the same exact money for us to go on this cruise as Disney. So let's recap. Fewer teens and tweens. I don't have to tow my camper to Disney. I don't have to buy food, all the food I can eat included. I get to go to different places. I get room service and my room serviced. Shows every night. Something for everyone of the 18 people in our group. So it was a NO brainer. Oh, and the kids are taken care of to.. for free. Daughter loves Camp Carnival. 16 y/o wants to do his own thing anyway. His rules were, be at dinner, be in by curfew, don't fall over board, don't get in trouble, be respectful of others.

**** Now let me say this.*** Carnival judges themselves by 1. met expectations (this is a failing grade to them) 2. exceeded expectations (if you have cruised before then this is hard to do since you know what to expect) I can not imagine having to live up to these 2 standards. But the Glory crew does it easily and does it well.

Just because you are on vacation and being "served" doesn't mean you have to leave your manners home. I saw far to many people being rude and degrading to the staff. Take a minute, speak to them, be polite, be respectful. Some of the best conversations on this cruise were with staff I passed in a hall, or corridor and was polite, and respectful to.

Cabin Review

Cabin win

outside window rooms have the MOST room. More than balconies and more than inside cabins. Plenty of room for 4 people
