Our party consisted of 6 (DH and myself, DH's brother and his wife, DH's sister, and a family friend—all senior citizens). We did this cruise as a B2B with Hawaii, but I am going to do my review in two separate parts since there was much difference (and because this is so long). The itinerary was Vancouver, to Alaska, and then down to Los Angeles, where we began a 15-night cruise to Hawaii. Since our most recent cruise prior to this was the NCL Jewel to the Baltics, I could not help making mental comparisons. The Serenade won by a mile!!

We spent the precruise night at the Delta Vancouver, which I got by bidding on Priceline. There were three of us in the room, and it cost us a total of only $117.39. It was a lovely hotel, but there was no breakfast provided. We took a taxi to port, leaving the hotel about 11 a.m. Cost was $50, including tip.

Embarkation was OK, but there were long lines and much confusion. If we had come a little earlier or somewhat later, I think it would have been a smoother process. We stood in line 35 minutes to get to check-in and then another 25 minutes in line waiting for the security check. We did think the arrival/embarkation process was a bit confusing. After our luggage was put off the taxi and picked up by the porters, we were left to our own devices to find our way in to register. There were no signs that we noticed, and no personnel were there to direct us. We went in the wrong door and ended up wending our way past long lines to get to the END of the lines. Perhaps there were signs and we just did not notice them. The entrance was not near where the luggage was picked up.

Cabin Review

Interior Stateroom

Cabin N

Perfect location for inside cabin. For some architectural reason, the bed was positioned different from usual arrangement. Next time I would ask for room 4538, which is the normal configuration, because we loved everything else about this cabin.
