Crown Princess Eastern Caribbean October 19 - 26, 2008

I'll attempt a well-organized, concise review of our recent week on the Crown but this will probably turn out to be a rambling account. Sorry about that! But I wanted to get as many thoughts down as possible while various aspects of our cruise are still fresh in my mind. The best I can promise is a 1 - 10 rating of various things. As with all these reviews, my ratings are totally subjective and it's entirely possible that someone on the same cruise had quite different experiences. As with ALL cruise reviews, take everything here with a pretty good-sized grain of salt!

Background: My wife and I are in our mid 50s, have cruised with Princess eight times previously (including a Southern Caribbean cruise on the Crown last April), plus once on Carnival and once with RCI. We have visited all the ports on this cruise quite a few times except Grand Turk, which we were anxious to see after the recent hurricane and because it is supposed to feature above average snorkeling. We are both avid snorkelers and have done it off more than a dozen islands in the Caribbean. As far as on board activities are concerned, we like to see the various shows on board, relax in the sun (me), take advantage of yoga and pilates classes (her), spend a little time in the casino (me!) and get to know the crew members whenever possible. We much prefer 2nd seating traditional dining to "anytime" but totally understand why anytime works for many people. I think we have reasonable expectations about the food on board and understand that mass market cruising is not a gourmet experience. We do like interesting and different menus however and are more than willing to try new things. Now, on to the ratings....
