We booked the 7 day cruise to Seward and the add-on land tour. As our first cruise, there some things that had a learning curve. The young men who escorted cruisers in the airport were very friendly and amusing, and there was a very helpful airport ground staff member in the cruise waiting area; he explained procedures, timing, and little bits of trivia. I think he was just the man who guided the buses into the parking lot? He was much friendlier than the various cruise line staff. The cruiseline staff were neither helpful nor unhelpful. Ship boarding procedure was quick and easy.

We had a lower inside cabin. The bathroom and shower was much larger than expected, and I was very happy that we were unable to get our first cruise choice, Radiance of the Seas, as the bathrooms are supposed to about half the size. The clothes line in the shower was appreciated very much. The closet space was large. We expected a very small room, which it was, and we would advise new cruisers, who are traveling with someone with a different tolerance to lights, to purchase a room with a window. It was unnerving to have 24 hour darkness, especially when you hesitate to turn on a light to see the time. Although I vowed that we would not use the laundry service; it was very quick and somewhat reasonable in price. The room furniture was not exactly comfortable (luckily other areas were very accessible and comfortable), but my husband was able to get his fill of Olympic/sports and political news coverage on the TV. We did feel some wave movement when the sea was rough, but nothing outrageous (except was it was challenge to stumble on the upper floors, especially in high heels. The dancers seemed to have a very rough time at one point!)

Our cabin attendants were fantastic, friendly and helpful. I wasn't really comfortable with someone touching my pajamas, but the PJ tableau on the first night (before I left my pi's in the closet) was amusing. I was happy my husband is not a chocolate person, so I was able to have two pieces of chocolate!
