We sailed 9/15/08 - I had a group of 24. I have always thought very highly of RCCL but they have changed and not for the better. Embarkation was awful!! Long walk from drop-off point to more lines inside the terminal. Felt badly for those who had difficulty walking such a long distance and without any help from porters. Check-in was drawn out - people everywhere - no particular pattern. Got on ship by 12:15 - rooms not ready but okay with that - ate lunch in Windjammer. Appreciated cold drinks and food was fine. Went to rooms by 1:30 - nice space and storage areas. Unpacked and then went to explore. Ship atrium very pretty (our rooms were just outside Atrium area - Deck-4). Ship is in bad need of paint in a lot of areas and most of the carpet was awful with stains. In our room we had 3 different patterns/colors of carpet!!! Booked massages at spa. Relaxed until dinner time. The Muster Drill was the PITS. People arriving late - on cell phones - people being paged overhead. It was SOOOOOOOOO hot that a passenger actually passed out on deck just 3 rows over from me. It was the longest Muster Drill in history (this was our 9th cruise) and frankly a waste of time. Activities were fun - entertainment good especially the ABBA night which was FANTASTIC. The water system was a real problem. The day we docked in Mexico (I chose not to get off ship that day) the water system was shut down from 11 am to 4 pm - couldn't flush a toilet, brush teeth, NOTHING!! all because of this brown water. It was a REAL inconvenience and I think passengers should have been compensated somehow. After that our water was okay until the next day and then guess what?? YUP back again. Our room steward was great. Waiters were a little bit quiet but very pleasant. Disembarkation was the worst.....we had to get up to Deck 6 in the theater and wait and then they announced escalator in terminal was on the fritz so we had to walk down to Deck 1 to get off ship and then wait in the longest lines ever with our luggage to leave. The way RCCL does the luggage in Ft. Lauderdale terminal is a crime. Anyway, I think I am done with RCCL for a while. Just not the same.
