Overall we had an ok experience with on the Carnival Destiny. We chose this cruise for the route and price. The service provided by the staff on board was great and we had only some complaints about the overall experience; but then again you pay for what you get.

FOOD AND BEVERAGE: The food quality on board was just ok, nothing out of the ordinary. We weren't wowed by the menu for dinner and it seem like the same repetitive stuff on the menu called "carnival classics". I really wasn't happy about the long lines for breakfast and lunch at the restaurant and grills. The 24 hours pizza was horrible and folks I am not a negative person but you hear a lot of people complaint about it. The breakfast eggs where the powder ones but you could tell it must have been the most economical ones because of the texture of it. You can get omelets made to order on the lido deck but again a line. Just get up early and try to beat the crowd. My number on complaint was the fountain card. It is advertised as you can get sodas in the cans at 1.75 and for 30 something dollars you get unlimited sodas and juices. THIS WAS A RIP OFF. Juices are free through out the ship and the soda you get is by the small cup one at a time. I went late at night to get soda to the late night bar and the can must have been open for a while because it had no fizz and when I ask for a new one I got a deer in the headlight look like if I had asked for the moon. By the way on the menu soda by the cup is at 1.25 so you do the math 34 / 1.25 equal almost 38 sodas. Who drinks 38 sodas in 5 days? Do not fall for this my wife and I bought two for a total of 67 dollars since it is plus gratuity and tax and it's not worth it. Buy them by the can better. The best deal I found for lunch was room service. Food quality was great and service was prompt and the menu was vast plus you don't have to leave your room. CABIN: Our cabin was great. If you cruise you have to get a balcony. We were in the AFT part which I recommend because all of the late night food is in the AFT part of the ship. A little vibration on the back due to the engines and props but it's a stable part. We had a king size bed. Two full mattresses put together. The two mattresses were not united by a big blanket that will make them stick together. I have gone to hotels were they put something in the middle to keep them from spreading apart but our bed did not have this. We would have to get up in the middle of the night to put the mattresses back together. This was a pain. The cabin was spacious it included soap, hair dryer, shampoo, towels, bath robes, razors and beach towels. I really enjoyed my cabin and it was the highlight of my cruise…even though that the mattresses spread apart they were veeeeery comfortable. Again for the price we paid I can't complaint. The service was excellent, the embarkation and debarkation was speedy and the late shows were great. I really laughed a lot on the cruise especially with Jorge the cruise director; this is one of the funniest guy I have ever heard. He made my trip worth while by keeping a positive, friendly and hilarious atmosphere throughout the cruise. Even though my experience was good I will be trying Royal Caribbean next time.

Hope this helps and feel free to contact me if you have questions.
