embarkation was organized, efficient, fast and pleaseant. From start to finish we were on board within 30 minutes. Cabins were not ready until 1:30 so we were directed to the Windjammer Cafe to eat lunch. The service in this Windjammer is fantastic. Busboys constantly clear used plates and vacated tables. Carts come around with coffee, water, juice etc. On our last cruise on Radiance, we never saw a busboy and had to clear our own tables. Promptly at 1:30, cabin was ready- beautifully prepared and clean. Steward introduced himself and made a note we requested 2 copies of ship's Compass every night (info re: next day) and we got our 2 copies every night!!! Cabin was smaller than expected for a junior suite and while there was more than adequate closet space, and several drawers, there were no shelves as the other RCL ships I was on had. I find the shelves very convenient for laying out tops, shorts etc. Balcony had 2 chairs and small table- no recliner.

We had top notch waiter and busboy every night the busboy remembered to bring my iced tea and the waiter was the best I have ever had. He was great at bringing extras and recommending the best choice. Our tablemates did not feel well and he solicitously offered to send their food to their cabin and he called for a wheelchair. Food quality was about a 3 and variety was so-so. Desserts were good but not enough sugar free selections. We had 1st seating and all we ever got was 1 cup of post dinner coffee- perhaps to nudge us out to prepare for the 2nd seating. The Head Waiter actually provided service and "earned his tip".

The shore excursions were good and worth the money. We were told to gather on the pier instead of in a lounge first which I apppreciated because I could take the elevator down instead of the stairs. The start times were not too early so we could have a leisurely breakfast at a reasonable time.

Cabin Review

Cabin 8

no shelves in cabin for clothes etc. only drawers and closet; balcony did not have lounge chair; great location; close to elevator but not in the middle of the hallway so was still private. We were under the pool deck and it did get noisy with chairs being dragged etc.
