Carnival Glory - Eastern Caribbean

Sail Date: May 2004
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Port Canaveral

Hello, My wife and I just returned from our first cruise. It was one of the best vacations i have ever been on!

We flew into Orlando MCO, on friday night it was very smooth and the staff on the plane was great, thanks Southwest. We stayed at a hotel and took a transfer minivan to port canaveral. We then went through customs with a little wait, but the lines kept moving. Finally, we were on the ship, it was amazing, we went up the 9th fl. lido deck and had some lunch. We sailed at 4pm and the mandatory safety drill. It was painless, about 15-20 minutes.

After that it was party time!!! We went to dinner every night. My wife didn't care for the food on a couple of nights, but that was fine. She just had something from from the buffet after. The food was very good i thought, everything from breakfast to lunch, to dinner. The waitstaff was excellent, we had table 164 in the golden dining room. Aniquin from Morroco and Anna from Romania were just great between More serving and after dinner dancing to conversation.

Other things that were great were the 2 las vegas shows, the midnight rated R comedy shows were awesome, the White Dance Club parties till 230-3am. The main pool area with the 214 ft water slide was great, as were all the other rooms.

Nassau: We were off the ship at 845am, we did a little shopping and took a taxi minivan to Paradise Island beach 4$ each way per person beach was very nice but locals trying to sell you things every minute. We stayed about 3.5 hrs, and returned to the ship at 1pm. Don't be late because the ship doesn't wait. The next island was St. Thomas virgin island. Again took a tour around the island seen the whole island. Dropped off at Coki beach to swim for 2 hrs all for 20$ a person, gave a 10$ tip because it was so good, also did some shopping. We returned to the ship at 6pm. The next island was St. Martin N.A. We liked this island the best, we took a taxicab from the dock to MulletBay beach about a 25 min. ride. 16$ for 2 each way. We stayed there for about 4 hrs, rented lawn chairs and umbrella 10$, it was great and so were the mango drinks, we went into downtown Phillipsburg for some shopping and returned to the ship about 4pm. We did everything from the advice of CruiseCritic.com. No expensive tours. We are planning for our next cruise for our family of 4, looking into a southern caribbean cruise next.

Thanks Carnival.

Mike & Christine. Less
