Well here we go again, seems like it took years to be leaving for another cruise! Actually it was only 6 months. but a long 6 months. By the by we were gone 17 days all told and we each had a 22 inch carry on and a small back pack for the trip. There is a laundry on board. First time I had been back in London for a number of years so really enjoyed the wandering around. Took the National City bus to Dover on Tuesday, about 50.00 USD for both enjoyed the country side on the way over. About 2 1/2 hours. Stayed at the loddington hotel really a B&B in my mind great place to hang out for a night and see the sights of Dover, The castle and the war rooms. Right on the waterfront. a bit of a walk from the bus and train station but many taxis around. Warning! It is a very long walk to the ship from Town, Grab a cab!! EMBARKATION At last we were on board. Arrived about 1 pm, Latitude member check in was about the best and fastest check in we have ever had, 4th NCL cruise. Again in our cabin and off to check out the ship. CABIN 10111 Forward We picked the forward cabin so that we would get at least 3 round trips of walking the length of the ship to offset the food we were eating., only gained about a pound this trip Inside forward, first time for an inside for us, previous cruise have tried out windows, not bad especially on the Dream in South America again more like fantastic as we had a forward looking cabin on I believe deck 8. WOW Sorry she has gone on to other places. Had a balcony on a Gulf/Mexico cruise and did not think the cost was worth it, actually rather boring once at sea. The Jewel inside was about 160 sq ft. We were a bit concerned in booking, too small?? etc. But actually we had no problems and it has convinced us to book inside on all future cruises. Clean, Great beds and for us plenty of room for our clothes and gear. CABIN STAFF. Once again NCL came thru, the cabin staff was REALLY GREAT!! Actually the staff on the ship was GREAT. Attentive, helpful and pleasant and of course once again "IGOR" the Ukrainian flash, What a guy! nice to see him again. Always a smile on his face. Entertainment Caught most of the Stardust shows, as usual very entertaining between us we caught all of them, including the crew show. Great idea First time we went up to the Spinnaker lounge to catch the Stardust acts up there, will do that again on the next trip. FOOD We had planned to catch one or two of the specialty restaurants, but on looking at the menus and the cost we decided to take a rain check nothing really jumped out. The Tsar and it;s sister restaurant the Azura, and old faithful the Garden were typical NCL food. No 5s but a respectable 3.5-4.5 JEWEL Sorry, but there is something about the Jewel, she is clean, well organized, well run, just too big, Not sure but will probably go for a smaller ship next time,if they have one. loved the days at sea. DISEMBARKATION. SMOOTH AS SILK! one of the best!!
