We had waited for six months for our day to come to board the long awaited Freedom Of The SeaS, Royal caribbeans Flagship new Ship. We has spent the night in Miami at the Hyatt regency in overpriced, marginal accommodation, after a 80.00 breakfast and 27.00 for parking, we were ready to get going. Upon driving into the port of Miami the Freedom towers the skyline and we were in awe of her sheer size. We quickly parked our car at noon, and preceded to the check in, although very long lines we checkin in less than 20 minutes. we were in our state room in less than 30 minutes from walking up to the ship. Upon boarding the ship we were in amazement at the sheer luxury and well thought out ship, a marble palace by any standards. We had chosen a superior deluxe balcony room for three people. the room was very spacious and every inch was well thought out, although we didn't intend to spend much time in the room anyway, we did take some sleep breaks in the afternoon before dinner, the room was well above any other cruise ship we have been on, linens were magnificent and decor very nice, bathrooms were on the tight side, but thats normal on any ship no mater what class of room. Our cabin steward was magnificent, not intrusive but there when you needed something. Food on the ship was very nice, the main dinning rooms magnificent with wonderful choices for anybodys palate. the Buffet restaurant the windjammer was always a bit hectic as its on the same deck as the pool deck so at lunch would be very busy, all in all the buffet food was okay and on par with any other cruise line. I find it amazing how they feed all those people at the same time. Dining inn the c hops and portifino was a delight and well worth the 25.00 they charge. very intimate and the service faultless. there is so much to do on this boat that i cant put in words. The shows at night first class and the staff are so friendly you feel like everybody is the number one passenger.
The tours to st thomas and st maarten were very good and very organized. again amazing how they move that many people. The experience i found was well above other lines and value for money is assured. yes at times the elevators were very busy at peak dinner times, but at 4000 people thats to be expected. i did find the drinks packages to be a waste of money and really no saving and 9.00 mixed drinks a l;ittle steep, but didn't care cause it was all in the most beautiful surrounding and service. my experience in the casino was lame at best, with no other competition to deal with, slots sucked you dry. Would i cruise with Freedom again, Oh Yes!!!!! cant wait for the new ship Oasis to come out next year. All in all it was a fantastic experience and will be back for my 6th cruise with royal Caribbean keep up the good work, no other cruise line compares once you have been on Freedom , nothing comes close
I am a very critical person but must give credit where its due, yes the ship is very big and sometimes a few lines but will never forget the moment we drove up to the ship. cant wait till next year.
