We have been on 3 previous cruises with princess so this was our first on NCL. We are a couple in our 50's and were very disappointed in the trip. I will say that embarkation went smoothly and we liked our balcony as it was the only relaxing place we found on the ship.
The bed was super hard but sleeping was impossible anyhow since unsupervised children were running up and down the hall yelling and screaming until past 1 am. Adults as well frequently walked down the hall talking loudly and laughing.
Food at the buffet was dreadful. We ate at one specialty restaurant and could not understand why they charged extra as the food was only marginally better than in the other restaurants. My husband was served undercooked scallops I had a creme brulee that was quite watery.
We had a pleasant time shopping in Nassau but on stirrup cay they were very disorganized getting people to the island and it took a long time to get started.
Our room had very little storage space compared to the other ships we have been on. Staff was courteous but often did not know the answers to a question or would give us wrong info.
as for shore excursions, we signed up for the everglades tour in Miami after disembarking. No one got back to us with tickets so we went to the desk our last night aboard and they were closed, we had to check with the reception desk and after waiting for the staff person to check she came back and said the tour was cancelled. would have been courteous for someone to have let us know that so we could have more time to plan what we were going to do.
