We had never been on a cruise, but tried this way of travel because we wanted to have a very relaxed week together with our 7 months old baby boy and assumed a cruise might be perfect. After reading the reviews on this site we took the chance. We had a courtyard villa, which we though would be ideal given the fact that it has a second (small) bedroom - ideal for the baby - and seemed rather big - ideal for all the stuff we needed to bring with us.

Nevertheless, we never considered a cruise before, because we think of ourselves of very independent travellers and a cruise always seemed a bridge too far for us. We feared lots of crowds and a tacky atmosphere. After reading all the reviews (the very good and the very bad) we still were preparing for the worst and concentrating on the possibility to totally relax for a week in our room and on our balcony.

We couldn't have been more wrong!
