BACKGROUND: My husband and I read ALL of the horror stories about the Majesty of the Seas. HOWEVER, we LOVE cruising, and we found an amazing price, almost too good to be true. In the past, we have cruised approximately 10 times [Princess, Disney, NCL, and Royal Caribbean], and we actually favor the BIG ships. BUT... when we found a bargain, we began reading reviews of the ship, and at first, we decided to pass on this cruise. As the time got closer [my husband's birthday was September 11th, and I really wanted to go on a cruise to celebrate!], we decided to book the cruise, with our minds set that it would be a get-away, without the frills that we were accustomed too. The cruise, in EVERY way, was MORE than we expected, and in our opinion, the ship, the entertainment, and the food were first class... READ ON, and YOU WILL DEFINITELY GET A "NEW" PERSPECTIVE ON THE MAJESTY OF THE SEAS!

SHIP INFO: We heard that the Majesty had a total face-lift, but we did not even recognize her [we sailed on this ship previously, only remembering the small staterooms]. The ship is delightful, spotless, and easy to navigate. Yes, the rooms are VERY small, but there was adequate room for sleeping... not much else! Even though they re-did the ship, there really was not much that could be done to stretch the rooms, so we dealt with it; after all, we did very little in our cabins besides sleeping! There are new mattresses with attractive bedding and flat screen TV's have been added to the stateroom. The new Windjammer Cafe is much easier to get around, with many different stations throughout. There never seemed to be long lines, and there were ALWAYS numerous staff throughout the cafe ready to assist us. In addition, the ship has added a Deli, Johnny Rockets, and a Sabatini's for pizza [Deli, nothing special... Johnny Rockets, hamburgers with singing waiters, no biggie... Sabatini's, cold pizza... stick with the main dinning rooms]. The dinning and show rooms have also been remodeled, and they look new, clean, and modern.

ACTIVITIES: After cruising 10 times, we have met many different Cruise Activity Directors, each of which was different and unique... each had something special, making them a delight to deal with everyday. BUT... we never met a JIMMY RHODES before; Jimmy, the Cruise Director on the Majesty, was the BEST of the BEST! His personality shines through his smile, and he has the ability to make you feel special! Jimmy does not just say "hello" to ALL the passengers, but he makes EVERY passenger feel as if he is your friend. Jimmy is not just doing a job; he really wants passengers to enjoy their cruise. He will do whatever is necessary to make certain this occurs. Jimmy goes out of his way for every passenger. We cannot say enough about him; Jimmy makes your voyage on the Majesty extremely special. Personally, I do not believe the cruise would have been so memorable without him, besides which he is so cute! I will add that during the day, we would have preferred some additional activities on board, especially since we returned from ports early in the day. AND... being a Crown and Anchor member [we sailed with RC several times before], we wanted to attend the party for past passengers, but we were unable to because it was scheduled at the same time as the main show; this seemed a bad choice. In the evening, there were usually games for adults mainly, and The Marriage Game was very hysterical... again because Jimmy was hosting it with his quick wit and personality! Royal Caribbean has the regular BINGO games, although they were not offered on the 2nd day of the cruise. We would have enjoyed horseracing and other such activities, although we realize that this was only a 4-night cruise and thus, certain activities had to be eliminated. So, we are not complaining, just stating a fact. There were the usual pool games and lots of line dancing, too! Our son is now 21, unable to join us on this cruise, but from what we heard, there were ample activities for the children. The younger children performed a cute pirate number before one of the shows; the children were dressed as pirates and seemed happy!
