My husband son and I sailed on the Enchantment of the Seas 8/23-8/28. We had a great time and will always sail Royal Caribbean. Let me start out saying this was my and my son's 4th cruise. It was my husband's 2nd. I have previously sailed on Monarch of the Seas and Sovereign of the Seas. This ship continues to live up to Royal Caribbean's standards. EMBARKATION We took a 6:30am flight from NYC JFK airport. We arrived in Fort Lauderdale airport around 9:15am. We got our luggage pretty quickly and decided to sit a bit and wait in the airport before heading over to the port. We waited until about 10:15 before heading to the port. We caught a cab because we didn't pay for transfers. The cab was a 10-minute drive and we paid about $13 for the ride. When we got there people were still getting off the ship so we sat on a bench to wait. We only waited about 10 minutes and then the porters arrived to start taking luggage. We gave the porters our bags and headed inside to check in. When we arrived inside people directed us to chairs to sit on because they weren't ready to start checking in. They made us sit in rows in the order we came in so latecomers couldn't jump ahead of the line. We waited another 10-15 minutes and the check in began. We checked in pretty quickly and went to another area where they made us sit in rows again. People were still disembarking from the previous cruise. We waited about 30-45 minutes and then we were told to form the line to go through security so we can head up to the ship. That went pretty smoothly and before long we were on the ship heading up to Windjammer for lunch. FOOD AND DINING The food was great and we weren't disappointed. We ate lunch in the Windjammer once and lunch in the dining room once. We did eat breakfast in the Windjammer everyday and dinner in the main dining room everyday. The breakfast menu was the same in the Windjammer as on all ships I have bee o. The lunch buffet was great and had many varieties. The dining room menu was great as well. The dinner menu was marvelous. It was great trying new things. We had food like escargots, lamb, shrimp cocktail, lobster, filet mignon, etc. Each day was great and the variety was great. We did not have the chance to eat in the specialty restaurant. During lunch hours they had a pool deck BBQ, but that was only on sea days. The Solarium also served things like burgers, pizza, etc, during different hours. We tried the pool deck BBQ one time and it was good. We went to the midnight buffet on the night they had it. I had a few selections and it was nice. I enjoyed looking at the sculptures made out of ice a fruit. ENTERTAINMENT There was lots of entertainment on the ship. We had no problem having something to do. There were times that there was too much to do, that we couldn't go to everything. We did accomplish as much as we could. We went to entertainment like the nightly theater shows, the belly flop contest, hoola hoop contest, etc. We played in the casino once but had no luck. We did try our hand at Bingo. My husband was lucky and won $250 of a $500 pot. Someone else won so he had to split it. Winning was great because not only did he win the money but he also won a tour of the bridge. The day after winning we were able to go and see where the captain controls the ship. We had a chance to talk to the captain and take pictures. My son is 11 years old so it was a great experience for him. We went to the pool on the ship the days we were at sea. My son had a great time and did not want to leave. My husband and I went in the hot tub. It was good because we did see security restricting kids from going in the hot tubs, when not accompanied by an adult. My husband and I took advantage of the spa on our last sea day. We had a hot stone couples massage. It was 50 min. long and worth every penny. SHORE EXCURSIONS During this cruise we visited Grand Cayman and Cozumel. We did not book any shore excursions this cruise. We decided to tour on our own at both ports. In Grand Cayman we walked the streets and took pictures. We wanted to see where the locals live. My sister told me that turtle soup is something that you have to try while in Grand Cayman. So I took her advice and we stopped by a local restaurant and had a bowl of turtle soup. It was very good and I recommend that anyone visiting there try a bowl. While in Cozumel we decided to go to Chankanaab. Chankanaab is Cozumel's national park. It has lots of local culture throughout the park. The park is preserved to show the island's history. They also have a lagoon you can swim in and a beach. We decided to go to the beach. We rented some snorkel equipment and snorkeled. At Chankanaab you have to walk down steps to get in the water and the fish swim right up to you. We stayed there for hours. It was great. The cab ride was $10 from the port to the park. After that we took a cab ride, $16, to downtown Cozumel and shopped. We found lots of deals and gifts for everyone back home. Finally when we were done we took a cab, $6, back to the ship. CHILDRENS CLUB My son did join the children's club. He did not go there everyday, but the times he was there he said he enjoyed himself. The children get their own compasses that show the many activities they have. From what I read they did keep the children busy. I believe that activities were still available while in port. I guess if parents want to leave the ship and do not want to take the children or the children do not want to go, there are still activities for them to do onboard. SERVICE The service received onboard was wonderful. Our stateroom attendant kept our room clean and always asked us if we wanted anything. The staff was always polite on the ship especially the waiters. Dinner service was great. Our head waiter, assistant waiter, and waiter were great. They always knew our drink orders and we always had good service. Our head waiter was Jacob, our assistant waiter was Ethel, and our waiter was Noel. We had nothing bad to say about them. By the end of the cruise we were on a first name basis with many personnel. DISEMBARKATION This is the only part of the cruise that I hate. I guess because the cruise is over and you have to wait to get off. The night before disembarkation we received the luggage tags in our stateroom. We had to go change the tags because we needed to get off the ship earlier. We picked the colors that would get us off around 9:00. The day to leave we first went to pick up the liquor we bought in Cozumel. On this ship they did not deliver it to our stateroom like they previously have on other ships. After picking it up we went to the Windjammer for breakfast. After breakfast we waited in one of the lounges to disembark. They were supposed to start letting people off at 8:30 but did not start until 9:30. Our color was called at 9:45. We got off pretty quickly and went through customs quickly also. We caught a cab and went to the airport for our noon flight. It is lucky that the airport is so close or I might have been worried getting off later than I expected to.

We did enjoy ourselves. I did go on the ship knowing that it had been stretched a few years back. We did not get to go on the bungee trampoline or the rock wall because we had no time. The splash deck that was put in does look very pretty at night. We have been loyal Royal Caribbean cruisers and we will most likely always be. This may not be one of the bigger ships but it is still Royal Caribbean at its best.
