This was our 2nd cruise. We took our 1st back in March on Radiance of the Seas and we were hooked! Myself (35), my husband (40), my 18 year old step son and our 9 year old son. We arrived in Fort Lauderdale the day before (which will be a requirement for any cruise we take) and stayed at the Embassy Suites on 17th St. Causeway. The hotel was nice, paid $135 which was a pre-paid non-refundable rate. They offer a cocktail reception from 5:30 to 7:30 nightly, which wasn't all that impressive. We walked over to Carlos and Pepe's for dinner (Yummy guacamole and strong margaritas). The hotel did offer a free breakfast buffet that was good. It wasn't your typical continental breakfast, they had eggs, bacon, everything. Anyway, onto the cruise. We rented a car thru Hertz at the airport. When we got there to return the car, we figured we would be taking the free shuttle to the port, however Hertz offered to have one of their employees drive us over to the port so we could just leave all our luggage in the car. This was awesome! Very convenient. (When we cruised back in March we rented through Avis and this was not offered, although it was over Spring Break.) We arrived at the pier around 11:00 a.m. When we pulled in it was obvious that the people from the previous cruise were still getting off the ship, so the embarkation process probably took a little over an hour. We went to the Windjammer and by the time we were finished up there it was 1:00 and time to go to our cabins, corner aft Junior Suite 7666 and an interior across the hall for the boys 7665. Our balcony was awesome and more than large enough for all 4 of us to enjoy.

We ate dinner 3 of 5 nights in the dining room. We intended on eating there 4 of 5 nights (skipping formal night because we chose not to bring formalwear with), but with kids - things change! We had no complaints at either place. The prime rib on the first night was fatty, but it was nothing to get upset over! We ate breakfasts and lunch in the Windjammer also. We didn't go to Chops, although I've heard nothing but good things about it.

We were on the 5 day that went to Grand Cayman and Cozumel. In Grand Cayman we did the Rays, Reef and Rumpoint through Nativeway. Awesome - I would highly recommend it. We went to Stingray City, were probably there about 30 minutes, got to feed them. Then we were off to a snorkel spot for 30 minutes or so. We got to see a large barracuda. Then we went to Rum point where lunch was served (included in the price of the tour) and relaxed by the beach for an hour or so. Back to the ship with time to spare for shopping or whatever, which we skipped this time since we shopped here a lot back in March. In Cozumel we went to Nachi Cocum which we booked thru Island Marketing. I LOVED this place. It was the best day. The water was beautiful, the staff there was very accommodating. Our drinks were never empty, the food was great. There were probably only 20 other people there. It was the most relaxing day in a LONG time. We also rented jet ski's and my husband got a massage.
