Just back this am from 4 day Majesty to Bahamas; Platinum member of RCI; booked two port hole rooms on Deck 2,one for husband and I;next door 18 yo daughter and niece same age. 6+ cruises so far previous, 3rd to Bahamas-booked at last minute(40 days ago)based on our schedule and fact that husband and I had 50,000 credit from Bank of America credit card and certificate was redeemed for "minimal ocean view room" and the deck 2 is what we had to pick. Despite some negatives-I will say first that I will definitely cruise Royal again without hesitation but perhaps discussion regarding cruising etiquette needs to be open as we were shocked and disappointed by what behavior we saw from passengers(and staff). We cruise almost every year now and have never felt the awkwardness we felt from this cruise. See below. Timeline: Arrived from Phila Saturday late via US Air-stayed at Springhill Suites in Fort Lauderdale due to good reviews and free shuttle to and from airport until midnight(more money to spend on cruise)busy hotel-large suite rooms, good breakfast,Marriott comfortable beds-yukky location-probably would not stay again if you want what we got next stop. Fort Lauderdale Hyatt Pier 66-can you say "awesome"?Great rate on hotel website with AAA-got rental car that morning from Enterprise at airport and proceeded to hyatt(only downside is have to pay for parking $19/24 hours-they are strict on this. Cool dockside location along intercoastal water way-free breakfast for 2 adults included(value 20 each-when you see the breakfast you will know)Staff incredible-all made eye contact-seem to love their job-highly recommend, they gave us an upgrade to an upper floor room with the most classiest bathroom ever and 2 very comfortable beds. Did the water taxi all day long, went to shopping streets called Las Olas-ate at Cheesecake factory-take my advice do the water taxi and this hotel. It's a 5 star in my opinion. See me on the boards if you want specifics on this. Next morning we drove to Miami which was about a 35 minute drive but not too hectic. Husband dropped us off at boat at 10 am and returned car about 2 miles away at Hilton Biscayne Bay which has enterprise location. He was supposed to take the taxi back but when he went outside the van driver for the hotel invited him on the van as he was heading to the port. Husband tipped the gentleman well and they had a great conversation back to boat. We got in the waiting area about 10:45 am and there was a large crowd(at least 200 waiting). They opened the doors at 11am and we were on the ship by about 11:30. The ship is very similar in size to Enchantment. Small but spacious. We went right to Windjammer. This was the best Windjammer ever, extremely clean at all times, food quality very good, the pastries with the kiwi and gel topping. Day 1: 1:10PM-ALLOWED IN ROOM-told by daughter's room attendant-come back later-not ready yet-1st sign of dysfunction;did tour of ship with daughter and neice-husband sunning on deck. Muster drill-people arriving extremely late-we're talking the end-not caring the numbers are different-giving the staff major attitude-many already seriously looked stoned-it was bad!!!2nd sign of disfunction. Found our table-4 of us alone-husband wondered aloud"why are we not sitting with anyone?" By the end of the cruise he was thankful we were not. Unpacked; did not get soda card-good decision-1st seating at dinner-food great all cruise in dining room. Met Basil our waiter-recognized head waiter from previous Sovereign cruise-knew we were in trouble-dysfunctional head waiter. Went to casino-extremely clean, great staff. Lots of winnings and daughter loved gambling at age 18. No real young adults on board. Watched comedian on Tv-he was good. Day 2: Early am breakfast in dining room-not friendly servers as compared to previous cruises-last breakfast there-the rest Windjammer. BAHAMAS-off ship by 8:30-went through line of solicitors for taxi or tours-ignore and walk through the building and ask for a taxi if you want to go to Paradise Island and Cabbage Beach-I always forget the name(I confuse it with Elbow Beach in Bermuda). Definitely $4 per person in a van(hopefully a/c!) with others as many as possible. Ask to go to public beach near Riu Hotel. You will go over a bridge very fast and get dropped off at 2 pathways. We always take the left one and proceed down to the beach. YOU WILL GET APPROACHED HERE. The people are nice but need income and want you to get your hair braided or ride their banana boat. If you are just interested in swimming in the beautiful water position yourself in front of the roped off swimming area and go in the water. It is crystal clear with lots of fish(bring your own snorkel stuff or just goggles. There are no lifeguards so watch your kids but there is really no current to speak out. Invariably it always rains there-when that starts or when you turn into a prune, head back out to the street, hang a right and walk towards the pepto bismal colored building with Atlantis something or other on it, walk in and take a left down the hall, continue left and follow the signs towards the casino-look around-you will see lots of the people Atlantis grounds and be able to use the casino machines. Very fun. Walked outside afterwards and got cab to "Senor Frogs" a very fun, water front bar/restaurant adjacent to straw market. Same price for taxi as before. Straw market sad and repetitive. Walked streets and love the liquor stores-they let you taste the local product and prices are extremely reasonable. Our ship sold most liquors cheaper but did not stock Bahamian mango rum- my personal favorite. Back on ship well before dinner. Formal night-sheesh-t-shirts, jeans, gothic attire, no showers, gross-sorry this really was becoming trashy-people arriving greater than 1 hour late and giving the servers hard times for not allowing them to sit in their seats. No decorum. Dysfunctional passengers and no one running the show. Speaking of which, the cruise director, Mr. Jimmy-never on the intercom, and when he was you wish he wasn't, terrible as Master of ceremonies at the Newlywed game, never around at all-I never realized how much a cruise director affects your cruise-but my daughter kept commenting how this cruise was no where as fun as last year and I would have to say it was because of Marc Walker, the Enchantment cruise director at that time. I missed him alot. Day 3- Cococay- What can you say? Perfect day, great tender people, beautiful island, the most beach chairs you can see ever, great staff at snorkel rental, lovely staff, did I comment on the staff, hotter than heck here and they're still smiling. Eat lunch early as everything in pristine, clean condition, sort of chaotic afterwards while mixing wet bathing suits, flocking, seagulls giving people the evil eye while they attempt to steal their food,(don't leave your plate alone and do not feed the seagulls or the chickens-you'll be sorry). Food I felt was excellent, water quality excellent, saw lots of fish for all day, we all got somewhat sunburned but that was an excellent day. Did pictures at night. Cashed check for 200 as there is no charge and we needed more cash for tipping.(Loved the casino) Day 4-Key West-pain in butt day-important fact-immigration comes on, all and I mean all passengers must meet with immigration. You are called by floors. I will tell you deck 2 is last and the cruise compass says it is at 10:30am. Okay-we are leaving Key West at 5:30pm. So if you get over at 11:30 and you leave by 5:30 that leaves only 6 hours at the port. I did not like this at all. The only way you can get off quicker is to book a very early adventure at Key west and bring the proof upstairs. I'd highly recommend booking an adventure at key west involving water early. It is very hot in Key West-all the staff says this over and over. You only have so many air conditioned areas-bars are mostly open areas. I regret not booking a snorkel or just daytime boating adventure of some sort.We did Ernest Hemingway house, great tour, great friendly male tour guides. Loved Key west, beautiful water surrounds, if your physically fit walking is not that bad, if not do the guided train tour. People are very friendly everywhere-some cowboy fellow called me gorgeous-characters of all sorts and it reminded me of a American Jamaica. Lots of emphasis on marijuana and you will see stoned people from time to time. Nice music at Sloppy's Joes and nice shops on Duval. We ate at Johnny Rockets for a very late lunch cause had free coupons due to Platinum booklets. Would not do again but you might want to watch multicultural people dance to Donna Summer-seriously really good dancers. Day 5-early disembark from courtesy lounge-off ship by 7 am.

Post stay-Hampton Inn Miami Beach-Blue Lagoon-excellent, excellent, great location-across street Public, Cvs, Walgreens, safe, close to airport, ate at Macaroni Grill-best hotel staff ever,Dollar rental car-shuttle via bus from ship for free, large beautiful bus at dock at 7:15am-highly recommend Dollar-good rate on their site.

Overall- Food-excellent Wind Jammer, very good dining room, Filets, all appetizers and desserts. High points-banana crunch thing, pineapple sherbet,avoid-mahi mahi, that's all.

Cabin Review

Not too far down the hall, no noise the entire cruise. Small port hole. Easy access to stairs and disembark to cococay, no motion problems.
