I am a frequent cruiser and this is my second trip to Alaska. Went last year on RCL, but I wanted to try NCL & Freestyle cruising. What a terrible mistake I made.

Embarkation at the Port of Seattle was a circus. NCL was ill-prepared to deal with a large amount of passengers and their luggage. Stood in line for hours. One elderly woman even passed out in the long line. Once onboard the ship I was totally unimpressed. No beautiful atrium lobby and no staff to assist you. What I did find was a ship with an interior that looks like it had been designed for an Austin Powers movie. Perhaps it looks like it was designed by a flower child from the 60's who had taken heavy drug. Tried to find my way to the cabin, but all cabin access seemed to be locked down. Went to outdoor hamburger grill on upper deck. Waited in line and they ran out of food. Tried to order a drink from a very unfriendly bartender who did not smile and very much looked like he did not want to we working on this ship. Finally at 3:30PM they announced you go to your cabin. Still had not eaten as they still had not been serving food in this outdoor grill.

Mini Suite Cabin on the deck 11 was a big disappointment. Room was extremely dirty, dust, couch was a wooden board with a cover, balcony was small and glass had not been cleaned in years. I sprayed every surface with Lysol as I heard the Pearl had multiple outbreaks of Norovirus on the past few sailings. Luggage did not show up until 10PM. Tried to make a dinner reservation by phone. After 20 attempts I found to the reservation line always busy or nobody answered. Eat at the buffet the 1st night. This had the be the worst meal I have ever had in my life. I am sure that a prison cook could have done better. The tables were full of dirty dishes which you had to bus yourself if you wanted to eat. No staff members to take any drink orders and I was extremely disappointed.
