My husband and I just got back from our 1st cruise. We thoroughly loved cruising the Hawaiian Islands with Pride of America. It is a beautiful ship and the best way to see the islands. I loved not having to pack and unpack. Your room stays with you no matter what island you're on! We arrived two days early in Honolulu to adjust to the 6 hour time change! We stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort and loved it! They have the nicest beach and were very accommodating. We stayed until 1:30 swimming in the ocean and they held our luggage for us and gave us a hospitality room to shower and dress before we got a shuttle to the pier.

Embarkation: There was a long line even at 3:00, but it went quickly and our luggage was at our cabin within the hour!

Excursions: When you get your excursion tickets on Saturday evening, make sure you check the times on them. Meeting time is the excursion time. We didn't know this having never been on a cruise before and they had changed the time of our kayak excursion without notifying us! We had rented a car for Tuesday morning in Hilo before the kayak excursion and had to hustle to get up to the volcano and back before the excursion. The Road to Hana was wonderful and very informative. The Hilo Bay Waterfall and Kayak was a blast! Perfect for two people who had never kayaked before! Parasailing in Kona was fun, such a smooth ride and very relaxing! Helicopter ride in Kauai was awesome and a must! What a view! I must warn you about Outfitters Kauai! DO NOT book anything with them! They are terrible! We booked two excursions with them, one with the ship and one on our own after the cruise (we flew back to Kauai). Jungle Mountain Trek excursion with them was a nightmare. It was so bad that 21 out of 28 of us stormed the excursion desk afterwards and were given a full refund! Outfitters Kauai ended up firing the tour guide. We had already booked a biking excursion down Waimea Canyon with them and were worried. Sure enough, no one showed up to take us on the bike excursion, and it was a full hour before anyone showed up to take us. So much for the "sunrise" bike tour. The bike excursion was nothing great.
