Review of the Grand Princess 12 day British Isles Southampton Roundtrip, June 7th - 19th 2008.

This was our fifth Princess cruise and second this year, the earlier being aboard the Crown Princess out of San Juan for a 14 day Southern Caribbean in early January 2008. My wife and I have been on over a dozen and a half cruises to date with over six different cruise companies, the first being in February 1991 and I'll come out and say that Princess has clearly emerged as our favorite.

We flew into Heathrow a day early and took the 45 minute subway ride to London's Waterloo station. We arranged everything on our own and found the London Tube to be so easy to use that I would recommend it to almost anyone. The Oyster card we each bought guaranteed that we would get the best rate of travel available and even at rush hour the cost of traveling from the airport to Waterloo station was only £ 3.50, and off peak is was only £ 1.50! At Waterloo we bought train tickets for our transfer from to Portsmouth, as well as tickets from Portsmouth to Southampton and the ship the following day and lastly from Southampton to London where we stayed 3 night post cruise. Trains left for our destination every 20-30 minutes and our total rail costs for all of our train travel was under £ 35.00 each total! A bargain compared to the costs of any pre-arranges transfers or taxi costs!
