I am a Platinum Member with Princess. My family and I (wife and two boys, ages 12 & 14) are still glowing from our recent 9 day cruise of the Eastern Caribbean aboard the Caribbean Princess out of Brooklyn, NY (6/22-7/1). With all of the negative reviews of late here on CC, I feel compelled to share the fact that, for me, this cruise was the best that I have had the pleasure to enjoy. Specifically referring to our itinerary of NY, to Grand Turk, to San Juan, to St. Thomas, to Bermuda, to NY, I offer to you my CRUISE DO'S & DON'TS:

If you are coming from the direction of Queens on Interstate 278, DO take Exit 27 as you approach the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, then follow the back roads to the terminal. DON'T follow the Princess directions and take Exit 26. That way is too congested and the U turn that they suggest is difficult.

DO show up at the Brooklyn terminal when you are ready. We arrived at 11:30 AM and walked right on the ship. I felt bad for those that followed Princess' recommendation to arrive at 2:00 PM, as they faced gridlock in the parking lot. DON'T worry about when you arrive. The traffic is going to be "New York" regardless as to when you get there. There is plenty of room in the terminal if there is a wait.
