Although we have travelled on many ships with many cruise lines, our Baltic cruise on Constellation was our first on Celebrity. Naively I had expected a top rated cruising experience having read all the reviews and consulted the Berlitz Guide.
First the positives - the embarkation was very swift and the glass of champagne very welcome. We had booked a Concierge Class cabin and were delighted with the daily fresh fruit, bathrobes, daily canapes and the flower in both the cabin and bathroom. The ship is vibration free and very comfortable. The service - apart from the negative experiences noted below - was very good. The self service area was good with sandwiches made to order and lovely ice cream cones (Princess Cruises charges extra for this) Also the staff cleared dishes away quickly so there was always somewhere to sit even on sea days.
Now the negatives - The air-con in the cabin was not sufficient so we had to keep the balcony door open to get any cooling breeze. The level of cleanliness left a bit to be desired too. When we had our safety drill they made us all go out on deck and stand there for ages under the lifeboats in the hot sun with our lifejackets on.
