EMBARKATION

It was effortless. There were no long lines; the procedure took less than 15 minutes. A taxi will take you right up to the ship, but be aware that they charge an extra fee on weekends (usually when the cruise begins from Barcelona port) and if you call for them as opposed to hiring them on the spot. We boarded the ship at around 2:00 pm, but you can basically board anytime from 9:00 am (since we saw people entering the ship when we disembarked). Personally, I think that it'd be a good idea to spend the afternoon exploring Barcelona before embarking, since it is indeed a fascinating city. The ship leaves Barcelona at 7:00 pm; we thought that boarding at 2:00 would be considered early, but it turns out that the Garden Cafe buffet was pretty crowded by then. The fresh and hot food was welcoming, however. We were also greeted with free champagne upon embarkation, something I consider a nice touch. Our luggage arrived at our cabin around 8:00
