My husband and I boarded the Carnival Destiny on June 15 in San Juan. Embarkment was the most troublesome portion of our trip because I had to use the restroom and rather than let me go backward through the checkpoints, security pushed me through without taking my picture for my sail and sign card and then refused to let me go back to meet my husband without having to go all the way through security from start to finish again. After waiting for him to come through for about 30 minutes, I finally went back to the beginning and found him right where I left him... A lesson to the wise, use the restroom before you get in line as your wait may be long but it will be more trouble if you can't hold it.

Muster was held at the 9ish right at the end of our dinner so we were rushed to hurry up. It was very hot and crowded on deck and the people in charge were a little rude but I guess in an emergency I would be happy they were sticking to the plan, I don't know though since everything went smoothly and we never had to abandon ship. At least it did not last too long.

Our first port was St. Thomas and we did the Megan's Bay, Blackbeard's castle excursion. The beaches were beautiful but we were not prepared for how salty the water was. Luckily, the beaches did have facilities to rinse off so everything was fine but be prepared for your eyes to burn and if you have sensitive skin. . The pictures you may have seen if the area do not do it justice. The water is so smooth and clear and warm. The flowers are breathtaking. The people at Blackbeards castle were the most rude of all that we me... I guess this goes in with being and American island... I don't know but everyone else we encountered was really nice and helpful.

Cabin Review

The closet was pretty roomy and I brought 4 large suit cases. We had a low inside cabin because our travel agent said that we feel movement less there but next time, we are getting a cabin with a balcony. We were close to the laundry but far enough away to not here any noise. The room was warm and they went over engineering to fix it but it was never cold enough for me, and there are no controls in the room. Smally but comfy, bed very comfortable.
