Embarkation: At Cape Liberty we had to take an un-airconditioned bus to the ship. I use a small scooter and these buses were grossly inadequate and uncomfortable. Upon boarding, we looked around t the public rooms, they were nice, and the famous promenade. We investigated it and were grossly disappointed. There were about 4 stores and that was it. We had the Star Princess to compare it to and in our opinion this ship lacked elegance and class. It was a mob scene, like walking down Times Square after all the shows let out. Cabin: We spent $6000 on this trip and we should have set it on fire instead. The Jr Suite w/balcony was the same size as our plain balcony on the Star Princess, this cost twice the amount. The drawers were dirty, the balcony was rusted with a miniscule table making it impossible to have a tray on. Very disappointed in the jr suite and balcony. TV was old, terrible reception and no channels except RCL propaganda. In room movies were sparse to choose from and $11.95 each! If you wanted to watch TV you had no choice but to buy a movie at these astronomical price.
Food: Windjammer was horrible. Food was picked over, waiters were sparse and acted as if they were doing us a favor, Since when does a chicken cutlet have greasy skin on it! Gross! Magellan DR food was worse! We would have starved if not for Johnny Rockets ($3.50 cover per person) and Portofino ($20.00 cover PP) The nerve of them! On Princess there was our choice of fruits in the room every day. If you ordered coffee room service (on Princess) they brought a pastry dish with it, when you didn't even ask. Not here! Dining Room waiters were not able to understand english and were inattentive.
Pool Area: Packed, dirty, no tables to put a drink on. One pool closed each day of this cruise. If you smoked you had to go in the shade in a small area. The Solarium pool was a separate pool but no smoking at all there, not even on one side. So there was one filthy pool open for us. Smoking WAS permitted throughout the casino, to RCL's benefit.
