7 nights in the Western Caribbean on the Carnival Legend was a fantastic cruise. It was very easy to get onto the ship considering that there were more than 2,000 guests. Steward service was great, always making the beds and turning them down at night, however we never knew his name and he never spoke to us unless we passed him in the hallway. I will say that every single staff member of the Legend spoke and was friendly anytime we passed them.
Our cruise director was Jen Baxter. She was VERY entertaining and very knowledgeable about the ports of call. I have never seen a female cruise director, but she was the best so far!!!
Entertainment was good, they spent alot of money on the productions. There were 3 Legend singers that weren't that great. The female singer always sang very loudly and didn't have a big range. The musicians were excellent and the dancers... well... they looked good, they just didn't have their routine's together. Honestly though, it was what you would expect from any cruise ship.
Dinner options were very good, however yes they obviously were packaged meals. They serve 10,000 meals per day so that is to be expected. Someone else wrote a review that they expected better food however it is not a 5 star restaurant and there isn't a 5 star restaurant that serves 10,000 meals per day so get over it. I bet they chowed down day and night anyway!!! The bar waiter we had for dinner was Philip and he was not happy to be there at all, at least he didn't appear to be. He never once smiled and when we asked for him to come to our table, the waiter told him but he never showed up.
I was actually very disappointed that on this cruise the activity died at midnight. You never found people wandering the ship or any entertainment on the deck at night. Several times I roamed around and the bar that is open until 4 am was DEAD at 12:30 or 1:00.
There are 3 swimming pools on the Legend but they are VERY small, you can't swim around in them. One claims to be open until 8pm and the other two claim to be open until 10pm however at 6pm they put the nets in the pool do that you cannot get into them, very disappointing several nights.
Ports of call were Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Belize City, and Roatan. All were GREAT. Especially in Belize City and Roatan you MUST do an excursion because if you don't you will be bored and quite frankly, these are ports you don't want to just be wandering around on your own, they are poor countries and you will be traumatized.
Overall a great cruise.
