Grand Princess cruise from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Rome, Italy April 12 - May 2, 2008

My wife and I chose to take this cruise because the price was right and we had never been to some of the ports of call. For less than $90 per person per day, we got an inside cabin on the Baja deck (eleven) for a twenty day cruise from Fort Lauderdale to Rome, with stops in Dominica, Devils Island, Fortaleza, Dakar, Casablanca, Gibraltar, Cannes, Livorno and Civitavecchia (Rome). The total cost of the cruise for the two of us was just a little less than $3600 including all taxes, fuel surcharges, service charges (tips), tours, transfers, Brazilian Visas, yellow fever shots, and wine and drinks while on board. It even included lunch at McDonalds in Florence, Italy and the Rent-a-car we used to get from Tampa to Fort Lauderdale. A value like that is hard to beat.

The first day of the cruise was uneventful. After a four-hour drive from Tampa to Fort Lauderdale we dropped the rental car off at the airport and took a ten-minute taxi drive to the port. We boarded quickly and were in our cabin before one p.m. The Princess embarkation procedures are quick and efficient. The cabin was relatively large and looked much larger through the use of many mirrors. We met out cabin attendant who did an outstanding job during the entire cruise.
