Another Fabulous Cruise

Sail Date: April 2008
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Bayonne (Cape Liberty)

this was our 4 cruise with royal caribbean. we are about 2 hrs away from the port. we left home around 8. did not know what we would find with the traffic. no problems. husband dropped the luggage and me off around 10. went into the terminal. they were not checking anyone in yet. went to get some coffee when they did. sat in the priority departure for 45 minutes before we were allowed to go out and board the bus for the less then 4 minute drive to the ship. went straight up to the windjammer for some lunch. a little after 1, we were in our cabin. grand suite 1268. our cabin steward was joel. kept the room clean. even though we wanted to keep our towels for later in the day, he would replace them each time we used them. was very chilly for sail away. warmer the next day.

bermuda: this would have been our 1st trip there, but we did not make it. a woman became ill and we had to go back towards the US coast to meet a coast guard helicopter.

st maarten: this was our 4th More time there. took the water taxi into town. shopped a little and then instead of going to maho beach to watch the planes, we sat for almost 2 hrs waiting for the parade. overheard a policeman tell someone, it would be another hour or so, till it got there. so we took the water taxi back over to the pier. sat at the bar for a couple of drinks and then went back to the ship.

st thomas: this was also our 4th time there. took the sonny liston tour. this was a nice, informative and fun tour. sonny took us into town for shopping and then to a look out above charlotte amalie and pointed out things to us. we then went up to the highest point on the island to mountain top. he took us out to the patio and gave us more info at what we were looking down at. had a "world famous" banana daiquiri, shopped a little and back to the bus. he dropped us off at sapphire beach. very beautiful!!!! if you get the chance, book this tour!!!

san juan: since we sailed twice on adventure of the seas out of san juan, this was basically just a shopping port. stopped in at senor frogs before heading back to the ship.

food: ate in the dining room only 4 times. both formal nights and 2 others. 4 other nights, we ordered room service (you can order almost anything from the dining room menus} and ate out on our balcony. one night we went up to windjammer and brought dinner down to the cabin. i thought the food was good, but i think they cut back on the size of the lobster tail. by the time you cut it up, you only have 6 bite size pieces! our waiter was nitkin (sp?). he was nice, but very slow and messed up our orders twice. the windjammer in my opinion is good for breakfast and lunch but i did not care for it for dinner. ate lunch on the last seaday at johnny rockets. very good as usual!!!

disembarkation: we were an hour late getting into port. i awoke sunday morning to fog horns at 5:30. i looked outside and did not see a thing. it was that foggy! we docked around 8 instead of 7. since we had a gs and are platinum members, we had a private departure lounge. after they called the express disembarkers, we were off by 10:30 and arrived home at 12:30.

we will surely cruise with royal caribbean again. we did the next cruise. within a few weeks, we will be booking the liberty of the seas, may 2 next year. we can't wait!!! Less
