We were on the bermuda and east caribbean cruise 9 days April 25th. We never made it to Bermuda though as a lady fell very ill and we had to get a helicopter to medically evacuate. Most were disappointed that we could not got to Bermuda as the medical evacuation forced us back closer to shore where the helicopter could reach the ship... we were still quite far out to sea by the time the helicopter did reach the ship as no land could be seen. I have to say that the captain and crew of the ship as well as the US Coast Guard did an excellent job in getting the medical evacuation done. We could see it occur from the top of the ship and I have to applaud them as this was no easy task and a very dangerous one at that. I hope the lady is fine. We heard she was in the ICU unit in a hospital in VA. We all had her in our thoughts and her family as well....We were told she would not have survived without this rescue. Needless to say this really instilled for me HUGE confidence of RCL in handling an emergency in a professional and empathetic manner..KUDOS for that...
So we had three days at sea instead of one down and then bermuda and then sea again...but no one minded as the weather was now great....many people were out and about on the pool decks and I have to say all the drinks were flowing
St Martin- Avoid the Deep Sea Fishing...tour started 1/2 hr late, boat was in poor condition..filled the boat with 5 people and should really have been 4 people at the very most....trolling was boring..,there was no instruction...they just dropped the line, rode around , really loud engine which likely scared all the fish and we caught nothing....oh did i mention that after the tour started late the tour guide( i can really hardly can call him that) left us on the pier for 20 mins in the hot sun as he disappeared to get his lunch...well we complained to RCL and they gave us back our 200.00 per person. I don't recommend you do this tour at all. RCL did the right thing in giving us a credit as this was a horrible waste of time...would love to hear if anyone else had similar experience
St - Thomas- We did the Christmas Cove and Honeymoon cove tour. EXCELLENT EXCELLENT! We were promptly greeted by our tour guide Dana who was so friendly and took us immediately to the boat Bones (schooner) where we met Captain Jim and Mango the deck hand/bartender/dj. I have nothing but GOOD things to say about this tour. Mango came along snorkeling with our group and showed us different things, shells, conch, turtles, and sea life...He was great...then we had a BBQ lunch which was excellent..We thought this was such a good tour after our poor experience the day before that we tipped them 100.00 they were more than happy.....
San Juan- been there done that so we just walked around and shopped ..hit the coach outlet ladies good bargains and the Polo factory for men
The rest of the trip we hung out by the pool, played Bingo....LOVED OUR CRUISE director michael and Phil the activities director as well as Johanne, Sabrina and Kasey..we laughed our heads off at the Karaoke and participated in the Quest...yeah i was chosen...it was hysterical!!! We enjoyed every show comedian except the last one ! He truly was awful..I left ten minutes into it and my friend joined me about 5 mins later..Headed to the aquarium bar to dance salsa and ran into another disgruntled comedian goer...we all agreed it was HORRIBLE..so much so we later heard someone say that someone shouted YOU SUCK to the performer as they stormed out....another lady thought it was so bad she said she needed a double jack daniels and ginger.....
OVER all excellent!! U will not regret it!!! RCL does a great job....good mix of people and age Less
