My wife and I, along with another couple who are close friends recently returned this past weekend from the April 13 cruise. We are in mid 50's to early 60's. This was our second cruise, our friends fourth, and the first for all of us on Princess. Our last cruise was five years ago on the Celebrity Summit, so any comparisons of the staff on Princess would be to that on the Summit.

We chose to head to Ft. Lauderdale a day early and stay Saturday night with a package through Princess that covered hotel, and transfers to the hotel and to the airport post cruise. We had some difficulty in finding the Princess rep. at the airport upon arrival and ended up having them paged. They found us quickly and the arrangements were made to bring us to the Marriott North for the evening. The hotel rooms were very nice, better than we had expected. We were somewhat concerned that on Sunday we may spend hours in the lobby after checking out waiting for the bus to the Princess terminal. But we were instructed to be in the lobby at 11:30 the next morning. We were on a bus by noon and at Port Everglades by 12:30. The longest wait was to get through security, which we found out was because two of the personnel were on lunch break. Once inside we went to the counter for our deck and I would estimate we were in our cabin in about 15 minutes. They really have this operation down to a science.

Our cabins were at the very rear of the ship on the Aloha deck, we had a balcony and our friends an inside. The cabins were very clean, though starting to show some signs of wear and tear in the carpeting, etc. I believe that the ship is due for drydock sometime in the near future for some rehab. Our cabin steward was Rumiel from the Philippines. He was great, always had a smile and greeting for us and took care of anything we asked of him, truly an asset to Princess. I had read some comments about the refrigerators in the rooms not really being adequate. Ours was plenty cold and we had no problems in that area. We did experience some rolling in bed and next time I would be sure to book earlier than we did and try for a cabin more midship and maybe a deck lower. It was nothing bad enough to cause any sickness. The rest of the ship was kept up very well, though as mentioned it is probably just about time to get in for some rehab here and there. We chose the anytime dining and would do it again, it just allows so much more flexibility in your day. All of our wait staff in the restaurants were very good, most very friendly and ready to chat. The restaurant food, while not gourmet, was very good. We had dinner one evening at Sabatini's and it was excellent, the food just kept coming and coming.
