I sailed on the Gem in April 2008 with my wife and six kids aged from 5 to 21. We have also sailed with Royal Caribbean so this review will compare the two and show where NCL can learn from RCI. I am British and expect high standards.
Firstly this is not really a negative review, we did have a good time and the ship lovely but there is much room for improvement.
The good things: Currently the ship is brand new and shiny clean. It is well equipped and the cabin we had, a mini suite on deck 11 was lovely. The bowling alley was great fun and the kids liked the sports court at the rear.
