We just got off of the ship and the cruise was great. We had wonderful dinners with friends that we met on the ship. Arrived at the port and went through the lines rather quickly because we are latitudes members, a status that you receive for cruising on NCL several times. We went to our room that was very pleasant and clean and was maintained that way throughout our trip though we never saw our cabin steward. Our nights were spent mostly at the casino where the staff were friendly and some of the dealers even remembered us from our last cruise. The best part were the people we met who we shared great times with laughing and talking while we were playing cards and craps. Lots of high fives, raucous fun and Bahama Mama's and beer. We enjoyed fine dining in the Le Bisto and Cagney's. The Blue Lagoon served great midnight snacks and comfortable breakfasts. The buffet had good food but no place to sit. They want you to go free style but the disadvantage is that the restaurants are smaller and you have to wait and are given a beeper. Hopefully NCL will try to fix the waiting time for meals in their various restaurants. There is no place like the USA we had a great time at Cocoa Beach, Florida a short ride from Port Canaveral. The Islands are pretty. We have been to Stirrup Cay prior and chose to stay on board and catch up on a good book instead. Nassau is scenic and the Atlantis Hotel is beautiful. We didn't go on the excursion to use the pool and beach too expensive for a romp in the pool. In Freeport we got off the ship and strolled through their local market set up at the docks, the town is 11 miles away and nothing to do there in the short time the ship ports. The ship decor is appointed beautifully with vivid colors and lovely paintings on the walls. The pool areas allowed for separate pools one for the kids with a great slide and one for the adults which was for adults only, great! Very progressive pool area with large cushioned lounge chairs and couches which offered sun and an area for a quick nap. A pool band was great and played each day. Many areas to find solitude if you want. Just off the pool area are several rooms , Library, lounge, computer room, card room all with only a few guests present in each., But let me get back to the action, the casino stayed open all evening and slots from a penny on up. Lots of happy players at both the machines and the tables. We will miss having the many people we made friends with be at our next table. The trip went by too fast except for the disembarkation which had long lines both in the ship and at customs which was not nice with all our luggage which we didn't need as the ship attire was casual. PS We wanted to take a few of the staff home with us especially one of chefs, one of the butlers and the muffin man. We will miss them all until our next cruise in a few months. Again, our thanks to the Captain, crew and staff of the beautiful Norwegian Gem.
